COVID-19 (08/18): Taiwan reports six local cases, no deaths

Taiwan reported six new local cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday. The country also reported five more imported cases among people arriving in Taiwan, bringing the day's total to 11 cases. There were no deaths reported.

Of the six new local cases announced on Wednesday,  two were men and four were women. None of them tested positive while in quarantine. One local case began experiencing symptoms on August 14, and the rest were asymptomatic.

 

The Wednesday totals for locally transmitted cases (by city/county) are as follows: 

New Taipei City: 2

Taipei City: 4

As for the source of the six local cases announced on Wednesday, a specific source of transmission is known for two cases, and the source is unknown for four. 


Taiwan also recorded five imported cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday. They include two travelers from the United States, and one from Saudi Arabia, India, and France.
