Taiwan reported one new local case of COVID-19 on Thursday. The country also reported five more imported cases among people arriving in Taiwan.
The addition of five more deaths from the virus brings the death toll from the beginning of the pandemic to 826. The deceased include three men and two women. All of them had pre-existing conditions.
The one new local case announced on Thursday was a man in New Taipei City. He was not in quarantine when he tested positive. The new local case was asymptomatic, but found out he was positive when taking a COVID-19 test in order to visit a family member in hospital. The source of transmission is unknown.
Taiwan also recorded five imported cases of COVID-19 on Thursday. They include one traveler from the United States, Lithuania, Vietnam, the United Arab Emirates, and Iran.
