COVID-19 (08/20): Taiwan reports six local cases, one death

Taiwan reported six new local cases of COVID-19 on Friday. The country also reported three more imported cases among people arriving in Taiwan. 

The addition of one more death from the virus brings the death toll from the beginning of the pandemic to 827. The deceased was a man in his sixties with pre-existing health conditions. 

Of the six new local cases announced on Friday, four were men and two were women. Two tested positive while in quarantine. Three of the new local cases began experiencing symptoms on August 18, while the remaining three were asymptomatic. 

The Friday totals (by city/county) are as follows: 

New Taipei City: 3
Taipei City: 2
Changhua County: 1

As for the source of the six local cases announced on Friday, a specific source of transmission is known for two cases, the source is unknown for two, and two cases are still under investigation.

Taiwan also recorded three imported cases of COVID-19 on Friday. They include travelers from Romania, Bangladesh, and the UK.
