Paralympic crews ready to help athletes with emergency repairs

In Tokyo, the Paralympic Games have finally begun. The opening ceremony on Tuesday evening was a rousing success. And repair crews stand ready at each of the Paralympic event venues to ensure the rest of the games will be a success too.

It was a proud moment Tuesday night when, after a year-long delay, Taiwan’s ten Paralympians finally entered the stadium for the opening of the 2020 Paralympic Games.

They and their counterparts from around the world have overcome so much to make it to Tokyo, including a global pandemic. And so the organizers are ready to make sure that nothing else comes between these world-class athletes and their quest for Paralympic glory.

At 14 competition venues, teams of workers armed with tens of thousands of spare parts stand ready to repair anything from wheelchairs to prosthetic limbs, ensuring that everyone has an equal chance in their pursuit for gold.

Be sure to look out for Taiwan’s ten athletes, who are competing under the name “Chinese Taipei” in athletics, badminton, judo, powerlifting, swimming, and table tennis.
