COVID-19 (08/25): Taiwan reports zero local cases, one death
Public transport is becoming a more popular option as local case levels reach new lows.

Taiwan has hit a major milestone – it reported zero new local cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday. The last time Taiwan reported no new local cases was on May 9. It's been a long road since then, with many new restrictions that have altered working and social habits, but these tactics have proved effective.

The addition of one more death from the virus on Wednesday brings the death toll from the beginning of the pandemic to 830. The deceased was a woman in her seventies with pre-existing health conditions.

Taiwan also recorded one imported case of COVID-19 on Wednesday. The man was a traveler from South Africa, and the health ministry has ordered three flight passengers who came in contact with him into quarantine. Authorities are still investigating if he may have come into contact with anyone else.

While this doesn't mean Taiwan has eradicated COVID-19, having zero new local cases is definitely cause for celebration - while still following safety measures of course!
