Taiwan’s foreign ministry says the country will play an active role in maintaining peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region. That came in the wake of a speech by US Vice President Kamala Harris during a visit to Singapore.
Harris says the US prioritizes its partner countries in the Indo-Pacific. She says that peace and stability in the area are a vital part of US foreign policy.
On Wednesday, the foreign ministry said that Taiwan’s important position in Asia’s first island chain makes it a crucial player in helping the US reach its goals. Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Joanne Ou said Taiwan is an important partner to the US, and that the country will continue to seek strong ties with the US.
