Singapore Airlines resumed direct flights between Taipei and Los Angeles on Wednesday after suspending the service for 13 years. Singapore Airlines had been a popular airline for travelers flying between Taiwan and California before service on the route was suspended.
Due to Taiwan’s ban on transfer passengers, the flights are currently only taking passengers directly between Taipei and Los Angeles.
Singapore Airlines now has seven direct flights between Taipei and Los Angeles every week. This is the first time Singapore Airlines has used the Airbus A350-900 to fly between Taipei and Los Angeles. The plane has 42 business class seats, 24 premium economy seats, and 187 economy seats. The other flights will use a Boeing 787.
The current flight schedule has flight SQ036 departing Taiwan on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday at 5:50pm, arriving in Los Angeles at 3:20 pm. Meanwhile, flight SQ035 departs Los Angeles at 00:40am on Monday, Thursday, and Saturday, arriving in Taiwan at 6:10 am.
Currently, due to the pandemic, seats are not full. But there has been a greater demand for cargo flights. With the new flights, the airline also plans to transport mail, produce, and tech products directly from Taiwan to Los Angeles.
