More international NGOs setting up offices in Taiwan
A foreign affairs ministry chairperson Wang Hsueh-hung says that new reforms have encouraged more international NGOs to register for offices in Taiwan.

The foreign affairs ministry says an increasing number of international NGOs are registering to open offices in Taiwan. A ministry chairperson Wang Hsueh-hung says this is a result of reforms that make registering easier and more enticing.

Wang says the ministry has succeeded in attracting more NGOs to Taiwan by providing a comprehensive English platform on its website. It has also assigned more personnel to guide NGOs through registration and even help them apply for subsidies.

Some of the NGOs that have recently registered include the American International Democracy Organization, the American International Republican Institute, and the German Freedom Foundation.

The ministry says it is accepting applications from international NGOs with visions centered around democratic freedom, human rights, and peace. It has lowered the requirement that an NGOs value must be at least NT$30,000,000 (US$1,074,018) before it can apply to an office in Taiwan down to NT$15,000,000 (US$537,009).
