Nearly 600,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses have arrived in Taiwan. The plane carrying the doses touched down at Taoyuan International Airport just after 3 pm on Tuesday.

The latest shipment includes 595,500 doses of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine. The doses are part of an order made by Taiwan’s government.

The delivery is the third vaccine shipment to arrive in the last four days.

Premier Su says Taiwan is opening up vaccination to younger people as more people get the shot.

Su also says that vaccines are effective at preventing serious illness and infection with COVID-19. However, Su says even countries with high vaccination rates have been struggling with outbreaks of COVID-19 variants. That’s why he is reminding people that the best way to keep the virus under control is to follow government advice and look after your health.
