Taiwan’s government has launched a new English video platform called Taiwan Plus (Taiwan+). The official launch came at 7 pm on Monday night.
Taiwan Plus is Taiwan’s first fully English-language video platform.
Taiwan Plus will provide English videos featuring news, segments and programs about Taiwan’s current affairs, culture, nature, technology and a wide variety of other subjects.
President Tsai Ing-wen says that Taiwan Plus is a “window” through which the world can discover Taiwan. Taiwan’s representative in New York, James Lee, says he hopes Taiwan Plus can be a channel for people in the United States and around the world to get to know Taiwan.
The first six episodes of the historical Public Television Service drama series "SEQALU: Formosa 1867” are featured on Taiwan Plus. It also features programs by National Geographic and Discovery Channel about Taiwan.
Taiwan Plus will also have three daily newscasts that will present news stories and features about Taiwan, produced by a variety of media organizations in Taiwan.
The new platform is run by the Central News Agency and overseen by the Ministry of Culture.
