Taiwan reported nine new local cases of COVID-19 on Monday. The country also reported seven more imported cases among people arriving in Taiwan. There were no deaths reported.
The nine new local cases are all related to a cluster infection at a kindergarten in New Taipei City. They include the mother of a child attending the kindergarten, and eight children.
Health Minister Chen Shih-chung says he thinks more people could test positive soon because of the close contact between kindergarten staff and children. He is calling on New Taipei City authorities to isolate possible contacts as soon as possible to prevent further spread.
Taiwan also recorded seven imported cases of COVID-19 on Monday. They include travelers from the Gambia and Japan.
