On Monday morning, the air force conducted a rehearsal of the annual Han Kuang exercises.
Onlookers watched as an E-2K, an early warning aircraft, took off from the runway. Other fighter jets include F-16 Block 20s, Mirage 2000s, and Taiwan-made Indigenous Defense Fighters.
These sights have attracted an eager crowd. Some people woke up as early as 4:00 am to come to watch the fighter planes, saying they didn't want to miss this exciting spectacle.
The annual Han Kuang exercises are Taiwan's most important military exercises. All branches of the military are involved and the exercises are designed to test Taiwan's readiness to fight off a Chinese invasion. The official Han Kuang drills will be conducted from September 13 to 17.
The rehearsal on Monday is the first one the Air Force has conducted since an F16V fighter nose-dived into the ground on August 31. Monday's rehearsal went smoothly, with no additional accidents.
There's no room for mistakes as Taiwan prepares itself for the possibility of a foreign attack, so the Air Force will continue these rehearsals and exercises to ensure the country's safety.
