After being closed for four months due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a popular geothermal park in Yilan has opened up again. But some of the things that you can normally do there are still off limits due to pandemic precautions.
A girl carefully takes a bite of a hot boiled egg. The egg wasn’t just any boiled egg. It was just cooked right in the boiling hot spring water at the Qingshui Geothermal Park in Yilan.
The girl’s family and other visitors rushed to the park for a day trip even before the Yilan County Government made an official announcement about its re-opening. There are pandemic precaution measures though. The number of visitors are capped at half capacity. People still have to wear masks at all times and respect social distancing measures.
Those who enjoy boiling eggs will need to eat at their tables. As for soaking your feet, you can do so at designated spots keeping a distance from the next person. But that’s just about all the soaking you can get for now, because other hot spring baths, including camping sites and barbeque grills are still not open to the public.
With reports of new COVID cases from its neighbor New Taipei City, the Yilan county government promises that it will do all it can to make it safe for visitors to the tourist areas.
