The foreign ministry has reiterated the importance of Taiwan-Japan ties. That’s after Japanese Minister of Defense Nobuo Kishi and Japanese House of Councillors Member Sato Masahisa recently remarked that Japan cannot avoid engagement with the issue of Taiwan’s security.
On Thursday, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Joanne Ou said that Taiwan will continue close cooperation with partners that share its values, partners that include Japan. Ou said that Taiwan and Japan enjoy close and friendly relations, that both share the values of freedom, democracy, human rights, and the rule of law, and that both sides enjoy a close economic relationship.
