Taiwan is working with the United States, Japan, and Slovakia to prepare for the post-pandemic recovery and solve labor issues. That comes through virtual discussions under the aegis of the Global Cooperation and Training Framework (GCTF) taking place on Thursday and Friday.
The GCTF is a platform jointly administered by the United States, Taiwan, and the Japan-Taiwan Exchange Association to bring Taiwan’s expertise to the world.
Foreign ministry official Regine Chen says the COVID-19 pandemic has caused enormous changes to global working environments. Chen says that is why the GCTF is holding its first talks focusing on labor issues.
Chen also says that it is the first time that Slovakia has joined a GCTF event.
A number of prominent officials delivered pre-recorded speeches at the virtual event on Thursday. They include Foreign Minister Joseph Wu, US Deputy Undersecretary for International Affairs Thea Lee, and Japan’s Chief Representative to Taiwan Hiroyasu Izumi.
