Taiwan reported two new local cases of COVID-19 on Thursday. The country also reported ten more imported cases among people arriving in Taiwan. There were no deaths reported.

Both the new local cases were reported in New Taipei City. The first is a woman in her eighties who tested positive on September 14 after visiting a hospital for medical reasons unrelated to COVID-19.

The second is a woman in her seventies. Authorities had placed her in precautionary quarantine on September 5 because of her contact history with patients in the New Taipei City preschool cluster. The woman underwent seven days’ isolation and tested negative at least twice before leaving quarantine on September 12. However, she began experiencing symptoms two days later and tested positive today.

Health Minister Chen Shih-chung also says health authorities have tested 45 people in relation to Wednesday’s Delta case at Taoyuan International Airport. All 45 tested negative. Authorities plan to test one further person in relation to the case.

Taiwan also recorded ten imported cases of COVID-19 on Thursday. They include travelers from South Africa, the United States, Japan, the United Arab Emirates, and Indonesia.
