Taiwan reported two new local cases of COVID-19 on Monday. The country also reported four more imported cases among people arriving in Taiwan. There were no deaths reported.
Both of the new local cases are from Taipei City. The first is a woman in her twenties who tested positive after taking a PCR test on Sunday in order to travel overseas.
Health Minister Chen Shih-chung says the woman had traveled to the United Kingdom and France between May and July. Chen says she tested negative twice during quarantine on her return to Taiwan. Her CT value is high, which means her viral load is low and she is unlikely to have been infected recently.
The second local case reported on Monday is a boy under the age of five, who tested positive in quarantine. Authorities had placed him in quarantine because his mother tested positive.
Taiwan also recorded four imported cases of COVID-19 on Monday. They include travelers from Cambodia, Indonesia and the United States.
