Taiwan women’s tug of war team has earned a spot in the 2022 World Games for the sport. That’s after the team came in fourth place on Sunday at the Closed Competition of the 2021 World Outdoor Championships in Spain.
Taiwan has won the championships on two previous occasions. But Chinese Taipei Tug of War Association Secretary-General Cho Yao-peng is satisfied with the team’s performance this year. He says its goal coming into the competition was to secure a place in the 2022 World Games rather than seek a third win.
Cho also says the Taiwan team performed as expected if not better, taking into consideration that it could not practise for two months due to COVID-19 restrictions back home.
Taiwan’s team beat the Czech Republic, South Africa, Israel, the UK, Basque Country, Germany and the Netherlands on the way to its fourth place finish.
