It’s been another relatively quiet typhoon season here in Taiwan. Forecasters are saying that yet another approaching storm will ultimately veer away from the island. But that doesn’t mean there won’t be some unstable autumn weather.
On a map, Tropical Storm Mindulle appears to be headed in Taiwan’s direction. But the Central Weather Bureau says it won’t end up coming that close. Instead, the storm, still some 2,200km southeast of Taiwan, will approach and then veer off towards Japan.
But in the north of Taiwan, the first few days of autumn are still set to see some rough weather. Beginning Friday, a wave of seasonal northeast wind will bring heavy rain to Taiwan’s north and northeast, and sporadic downpours to the Taipei area and the east coast. This rainfall is set to continue into the weekend.
Still, a lack of other typhoons on the horizon means that Taiwan looks set to make it into October without any major storms this year.
