Taiwan reported one new local case of COVID-19 on Friday. The country also reported seven more imported cases among people arriving in Taiwan. There were no deaths reported.
The one new local case reported on Friday is a woman in her twenties from New Taipei City. She began experiencing symptoms on September 7, but her rapid test returned a negative result. The woman then took a second test for work purposes on Wednesday. Health authorities confirmed her infection with COVID-19 on Friday.
Taiwan also recorded seven imported cases of COVID-19 on Friday. They include travelers from Belize, the UK, the Philippines, the United States, and Japan.
From the start of the pandemic till now, Taiwan has reported a total of 16,176 cases of COVID-19. Of those 14,579 are local cases, and 1,543 are imported cases. Taiwan has also reported 841 deaths from COVID-19.
