A survey by the Eurasia Group Foundation has found that 42% of Americans support the US defending Taiwan against a Chinese invasion. The nonpartisan NGO announced its survey findings on Wednesday morning.
The foundation conducted the survey between August 27 and September 1 in the wake of the highly-scrutinized US withdrawal from Afghanistan. Nearly half of the 2,168 respondents said they support the US defending Taiwan, another 16% said they do not, and the remaining 42% said that they aren’t sure.
However, while the survey found broad support for a US defense of Taiwan, 42% of respondents also said that the US should curb its military presence abroad.
