A total of 56 Chinese military aircraft flew into Taiwan’s Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ) on Monday. That’s a record high since Taiwan’s defense ministry began taking tally of such incursions in September 2020.

Mainland Affairs Council Minister Chiu Tai-shan is calling on the Chinese military to exercise self-restraint. He said the government will continue to monitor China’s moves.

Defense Minister Chiu Kuo-zheng said though the incursions have increased pressure on Taiwan’s Navy and Air Force, Taiwan’s military is becoming more prepared for war.

The foreign ministry on Tuesday said Chinese military aircraft and warship incursions around Taiwan, in the Taiwan Strait, the East China Sea, and the South China Sea have undermined regional stability. China has raised tensions in the Indo-Pacific region. It said Taiwan will continue to enhance its defensive capabilities and cooperation with like-minded countries.
