National Day is coming and a sneak peak video of the exciting celebrations has come out. Head of the committee for the celebrations, Legislature President You Si-kun told the public about the upcoming event at a press conference on Tuesday.
Taiwan has had a streak of zero COVID cases thanks to the cooperation of the Taiwanese people. That means this year’s National Day celebrations will go on as planned.
Legislature President You Si-kun thanked frontline medical workers for their hard work. You said the world faces unprecedented challenges and Taiwan is partnering with other friendly nations for mutual support. He said Taiwan is an indispensable member of the international community.
The press conference also announced four highlights of this year’s celebrations: an orchestra performing on the 91st floor of Taiwan’s tallest building the Taipei 101, the largest Taiwan flag to fly across the sky, a choir of 60 children from 16 indigenous tribes, and 226 special vehicles to be featured in the National Day parade.
This year’s National Day fireworks will take place in Hsinchu and Kaohsiung. Hsinchu Mayor Lin Chih-chien and Kaohsiung Mayor Chi-mai were at the press conference inviting people to visit their cities for the National Day events. They made sure to remind visitors to bring their stimulus vouchers for some big spending in their cities.
