President Tsai Ing-wen spoke Wednesday at an event marking 50 years since the founding of the Food & Fertilizer Technology Center. The center is an international organization headquartered in Taipei that helps farmers adopt innovative agricultural technologies.
During a pre-recorded speech at the ceremony, Tsai said the center has helped increase small-scale farmers’ productivity and quality of life over the past five decades. She said that the center has also made steps to improve farming sustainability and food safety.
Tsai also said that the center has recently encouraged farmers to adopt smart technologies that help combat losses brought on by climate change and natural disasters.
