Taiwan sees one local COVID case on Saturday
October 9th's COVID numbers

Taiwan saw one new local COVID case, three imported and one death on Saturday.

The new local case broke a 9-day streak of zero local cases.

The local case is a 5-year old child whose family have tested negative for COVID-19. Health Minister Chen Shih-chung said this case does not seem to pose a major threat to Taiwan.  Five of her contacts have been identified and the child's family members have tested negative. Chen said it was likely an old case.

Lithuania's donation of nearly 240,000 COVID vaccines is expected to arrive Saturday afternoon.

The imported cases were from the United States and Myanmar.

Taiwan has seen 16,287 COVID-19 cases and 846 deaths.
