Taiwan saw zero local COVID-19 cases, one imported and no related deaths on Sunday. Taiwan has seen only three local COVID cases in October.
The Level 2 restrictions will be extended until Nov. 1 but mask restrictions are gradually loosening. Beginning Tuesday, people can take off their masks when exercising outdoors and when taking photographs. Health Minister Chen Shih-chung said the extension was due to the progress of the vaccine rollout.
As of Sunday, 62% of Taiwan's population have received their first COVID vaccine dose while 22% have been fully vaccinated. The government's goal for October is to have 70% receive first vaccine and 30% fully vaccinated.
The imported case was from Indonesia.
Taiwan has seen a total of 16,337 cases and 846 deaths.
