Taiwan reported no new local or imported cases of COVID-19 on Friday. The country also reported no deaths. It is the first time Taiwan has reported no cases or deaths since April 8, more than half a year ago.
Taiwan CDC Director-General Chou Jih-haw says he is pleased to announce the milestone in Taiwan’s campaign to contain COVID-19. He is asking the public to keep following health authorities’ guidelines.
Transport Minister Wang Kuo-tsai also announced that eating and drinking will be allowed at coach stations, ports and airports starting from Tuesday.
Wang also says that Taiwan’s high-speed rail network will return to its pre-outbreak schedule starting November 8. That means trains will come more frequently, and non-reserved seating will become available again. In order to prevent overcrowding, rail authorities will open up extra carriages for non-reserved seating at peak times.
