COVID-19 (10/19): Taiwan reports one local case, no deaths
Taiwan's COVID-19 case numbers for October 19, 2021

Taiwan reported one new local case of COVID-19 on Tuesday. The country also reported five more imported cases among people arriving in Taiwan. No deaths due to COVID were reported.

The one local case is a man in his 60s. He started experiencing symptoms on October 16. A test was taken on the 17th and the result came out positive on Tuesday. The Central Epidemic Command Center has located 12 people who had come in contact with the confirmed case. The center has yet to find out the source of transmission for the case.

The five imported cases of COVID-19 included travelers from the United States, the UAE, the Philippines and Malaysia.  

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Taiwan has reported a total of 16,343 cases of COVID-19. That includes 1,704 imported cases and 14,585 domestic cases. Taiwan has also reported a total of 846 deaths from COVID-19.
