Taiwan trade and investment delegation heads to Europe
Taiwan's Taipei 101 skyscraper has recently displayed messages of thanks to countries such as the Czech Republic and Lithuania after these countries donated COVID-19 doses to Taiwan.

A trade and investment delegation led by Taiwan’s National Development Council minister has departed for Europe. The delegation is made up of around 65 members, and will visit Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and Lithuania.

Taiwan has seen warming ties with all three countries in recent months. Lithuania, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia are all among the countries that have donated COVID-19 vaccines to Taiwan this year, and Lithuania and Taiwan are preparing to set up representative offices in each other’s capitals.

The Czech-Taiwanese Business Chamber says that areas with a strong potential for Czech-Taiwanese cooperation include information and communication technology, green technology, the Internet of Things, information security, the health and wellness industry, smart cities, tourism, finance, and electric vehicles.

During their visit to the Czech Republic between October 23-26, delegates will attend discussions at the Czech Senate and hold meetings with organizations such as CzechInvest and CzechTrade.

While in Lithuania from October 26-29, the delegates will take part in a Taiwan-Lithuania trade and investment forum. The delegation includes representatives from around 40 companies that want to invest in Lithuania, cooperate with Lithuanian companies, buy Lithuanian products, or tap into the Lithuanian tourism market.

Areas where Taiwanese and Lithuanian businesses see potential for cooperation include lasers, biotechnology, IT, AI, information security, green energy, sustainable transport, and food products.
