The United States has left out Taiwan-made COVID-19 vaccine Medigen on its list of accepted vaccines for those entering the US. The new US international travel policy will take effect November 8. It requires all non-US citizens to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 with its listed vaccines before entering the US.
Taiwan’s Medigen, developed by Medigen Vaccine Biologics Corp., is not on the list. The spokesperson for Taiwan’s Central Epidemic Command Center, Chuang Jen-hsiang said that the health ministry and the foreign ministry are in talks with the US and hope that Medigen will be added to the US list of approved vaccines.
Vaccines currently approved by the US government include Pfizer’s BioNTech, Moderna, and AstraZeneca vaccines, as well as Johnson and Johnson and China’s Sinovac and Sinopharm.
