The foreign ministry is congratulating Japan’s Liberal Democratic Party on its victory in the country’s general election on Sunday. The party, led by Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, kept its majority in Japan’s House of Representatives, winning 261 seats in the 465-seat chamber.
The foreign ministry also says it has asked Taiwan’s representative office in Japan to congratulate lawmakers from the Japan-ROC Diet Members' Consultative Council on their re-election.
The ministry says ties between Taiwan and Japan grow more friendly by the day. It says it hopes Taiwan and Japan can continue to work together to promote peace and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region.
