VIDEO: More relaxed COVID restrictions: travelers can eat on intercity trains
Eating now allowed in intercity trains and buses

Taiwan has relaxed more COVID restrictions which is good news for travelers who get hungry on long train rides.  Now travelers on trains and the High Speed Rail, as well as intercity buses and tourist buses within Taiwan, can eat inside the carriages.

As of November 2, travelers can bring food onto trains or buses if they’re traveling long distances from city to city. One woman said that’s great news when she has to rush and has no time to eat. Another said she wouldn’t have to get up early anymore. Now she can just buy breakfast and eat on the train.

The person next to you needs to have a mask on though. Then you can remove your mask and eat. The same goes for traveling on intercity buses, tourist buses and domestic flights.  Life in Taiwan is gradually becoming more normal.

With the good news, a Japanese food company is jumping on the bandwagon. Japan’s hotel chain Seibu Group is cooperating with Taiwan Railways to promote limited edition lunchboxes to be sold on the train. But if anyone wants to enjoy one of those lunches, they have to be quick as only 25 orders of each lunch set will be sold starting Thursday. Bon Appetit!
