Weather officials say that northern Taiwan will experience a drop in temperature this week. That’s because seasonal winds and a cold front are on the way.
It’s a rainy Monday morning in northern Taiwan. Many commuters have their umbrellas out and are dressed in layers. You might think it looks cold now, but weather officials say that it’s going to get even colder.
Meteorologists warn that northeasterly winds combined with an impending cold front will not only drive the temperature down, but will also bring heavy rain to northern Taiwan as well. So far, six cities and counties have issued heavy rain alerts.
Central and southern Taiwan will also see colder temperatures, but the shift won’t be as abrupt as in the north.
According to meteorologists, the rain should ease up by the end of Monday, but that’s when the cold weather will get even colder! Temperatures will dip to their lowest this week between Wednesday and Thursday. The biggest temperature drops will take place at the coast. And up on the mountains, there is even the possibility of snow.
For this week at least, weather officials are advising people to bundle up, carry an umbrella, and try not to “chill.”
