Taiwan’s Premier Su Tseng-chang says determination, contribution, and caution are the best way to ensure that China does not prevail over Taiwan. That statement came during a questioning at Taiwan’s legislature with regard to a Chinese propaganda song.
A propaganda called “Going to Taiwan in 2035” is spreading on Chinese social media. Its simple lyrics and melody are designed to attract children. The song echoes Chinese President Xi Jinping’s repeated declarations about taking control of Taiwan through peaceful or military means. China has been increasing pressure on Taiwan by sending warplanes into Taiwan’s Air Defense Identification Zone, and through economic measures.
While Premier Su was answering questions at the legislature on Friday, one lawmaker asked what the government’s position on repeated Chinese provocations, including propaganda, is. Su said that Taiwanese people should keep up defenses in their minds. He said that because China has never ruled out the possibility of a military invasion of Taiwan, the people of Taiwan should cultivate determination, a spirit of contribution, and caution. According to him this is the only way to prevent China from prevailing.
