Some parts of Taiwan may experience a rare occurrence over the weekend - snowfall. That is despite the fact that overall, weather around the country is set to warm up.
It’s the weekend again! Sadly, it looks to be a rainy one. At least, that is, in Taipei. Those living in the mountains might witness something else, a sight that is rare in Taiwan - snow.
The Central Weather Bureau says moist air and low temperatures may result in snowfall in the mountains, especially those above 3500 meters in elevation.
Moisture in the air is going up, but at the same time seasonal northeasterly winds are easing off. This means higher temperatures across Taiwan, with forecasts predicting 17-22 degrees in the North, 20-26 degrees in Central Taiwan, and up to 28 degrees in the south.
However, the east part of Northern Taiwan will have to wait a bit longer for clear skies.
The Central Weather Bureau says that as masses of moist air move over Taiwan, the weather may be somewhat unpredictable until Sunday.
Relatively warm weather should hold until the latter half of next week, when seasonal winds are expected to pick up and drive in another weather front.
