Foreign affairs ministry spokesperson Joanne Ou says that relations between Taiwan and the US remain strong, especially as President Joe Biden has committed to protecting Taiwan many times. Ou made these comments on Tuesday, after Biden and China's President Xi Jin-ping held a virtual meeting on Monday evening, US time.

Ou has assured the public that the foreign affairs ministry is keeping a close eye on relations between China and the US. In addition, Ou has shared that Taiwan and the US are hosting political and military defense conferences on Tuesday and Wednesday this week.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken spoke with China's Foreign Affairs Minister Wang Yi before Biden and Xi's meeting. Blinken said that the US is invested in stable and harmonious cross-strait relations that protect Taiwan's rights and liberties.

Ou thanks the US for supporting Taiwan and its democratic system, and said that Taiwan will continue to work closely with the US and strengthen its own national defense. In this way, Ou said that Taiwan hopes to promote peace, stability, and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region.
