Fourteen allies call for Taiwan’s inclusion in UNFCCC
Though Taiwan was unable to take part directly in the COP26 summit, it did organize a "Taiwan Day" event on the sidelines.

The foreign ministry says that 14 of Taiwan’s 15 diplomatic allies called for Taiwan’s inclusion in the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change during the recent COP26 summit in the UK.

Although a delegation from the Taipei-based Industrial Technology Research Institute was accredited as an NGO observer during the summit, Taiwan itself is usually barred from such UN events.

The foreign ministry says that the 14 allies that spoke in favor of Taiwan’s inclusion in the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change did so in different forms, some in letter form and others in spoken statements. But the ministry says, this is overall the most support Taiwan has yet received for its bid for inclusion in the framework convention.
