The second Taiwan-US Economic Prosperity Partnership Dialogue will take place online on Tuesday this week. The talks are set to cover a range of topics, including supply chains, industrial cooperation, digital technologies, 5G, and jointly resisting economic pressure.
Economics Minister Wang Mei-hua and Science and Technology Minister Wu Tsung-tsong will lead the discussion on behalf of Taiwan. US Under Secretary of State for Economic Growth, Energy, and the Environment, Jose W. Fernandez, will represent the United States.
Wang says that since the dialogue does not involve the Office of the United States Trade Representative, it will focus on industrial strategies, and not on imports of pork containing the feed additive ractopamine.
Wang did not say whether the two sides would discuss the recent semiconductor supply chain questionnaire issued by the US Department of Commerce. The decision to issue the questionnaire sparked concerns among investors that Taiwanese semiconductor manufacturers would be forced to divulge sensitive information.
