The Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) has announced that starting from January 1, 2022, there are 24 work sectors that will require employees to be fully vaccinated. Health minister Chen Shih-chung shared these updates on Tuesday morning, saying that if employers did not uphold these standards, the sites may be forced to suspend operations.
Employees at schools, nursing homes, and rehabilitation centers were included on the list because they are at a higher risk for spreading COVID-19. Chen says that if certain employees cannot be fully vaccinated due to medical complications, they will be required to submit a clean COVID-19 test every week.
The CECC says that it has been continuing to open even more vaccination centers, to make it more convenient for people to get the jab. Chen says that just within Taipei Main Station alone, there are three sites administering Moderna vaccines, and within the past two days, over 2,000 people have come to the main station to get vaccinated.
Still, Chen says that over 34,000 Moderna vaccines are expected to expire on Tuesday, and another 50,000 will have expired by Sunday. Therefore, the CECC is doing everything it can to encourage as many people to get vaccinated as soon as possible.
