Health authorities are planning to test passengers on a recent flight between Kaohsiung and the Penghu Islands for COVID-19. That’s after revelations that one person on board had just tested positive.
The person in question is an Indonesian national who arrived in Taiwan in November to work onboard a fishing vessel.
On Wednesday, as the man was about to complete his mandatory period of self-health management, he went to a hospital to take a final COVID test. The test came back positive, but before the hospital could tell him the news, the man had already boarded a flight to the Penghu Islands, where he was to be employed.
On Friday, the Penghu County Government announced that it had quickly arranged a quarantine room at a hospital for the man, who had not yet gone to sea. Health authorities say the man’s viral load was low, but that passengers on the same flight to Penghu will still need to be tested for COVID.
