VIDEO: International tech convention features many Taiwanese innovations
The upcoming tech convention in the US features many Taiwanese businesses and shows that the future is full of possibilities.

Taiwan is sending 50 tech companies to the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in the US, with an additional 50 Taiwanese companies participating virtually in the event. CES will be hosted from January 5 to 8, but on Tuesday the Taiwan Tech Arena shared some of Taiwan's most exciting inventions.

One of the top teams invented a disinfectant solution that is created using water and electrode oxidation. The team says this is a more environmentally friendly and convenient sanitizer.

Since the disinfectant is water-based, it doesn't irritate the eyes or skin, and isn't flammable like alcohol-based solutions. This new sanitizer is also better because it doesn't include any chemical stabilizers or preservatives.

Another company has created a smart wireless translation device. In order to use the tool, people just need to speak into the microphone and a translation will be automatically sent to an app on the listener's phone.

Currently, the app provides translations in Mandarin, English, Japanese, and Korean and its instant translation has a 70-80% accuracy rate.

Science and technology minister Wu Tsung-tsong says that Taiwan is full of resourceful and innovative tech companies. He says it's essential for these businesses to make connections with other international organizations. Doing so will open the door for even more investment opportunities and for Taiwan's tech industry to expand on a global level.
