Another year is coming to an end. On the final day of 2021, the tallest skyscraper in Taiwan, Taipei 101, will once again hold a spectacular fireworks show to usher in the new year.
Taipei 101 recently unveiled a simulation of the upcoming year-end fireworks show. Chairman Chang Hsueh-shun said that the theme of this year’s display is “Towards a Better Future”. In addition to fireworks, the display will also include animation, music, and a light show.
Chang said the annual New Year countdown fireworks show will shoot off 16,000 fireworks for 360 seconds, making it the longest and biggest display ever to have taken place at the skyscraper since it was completed in 2004.
Chang said the theme this year is meant to promote healing in the midst of COVID-19 and to brighten Taiwanese people’s spirits for a better future filled with peace and happiness. He said that what’s special about this year’s show is that it will include heart-shaped and angel-like fireworks. He said if the weather is nice, the display will remind spectators of angels spreading their wings in the sky, igniting hope and warmth.
