Eight year old Li Hsin-fei captivates the audience as she dances and twists her body in a beautiful performance. Li danced at the promotional event in Taipei for the Taiwan International Light Festival held at the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts in Taichung. The exhibition is open to the public through the end of February.
Museum director Liang Yung-fei says this is Taiwan's third time holding the annual event, but this year's festival is the largest both in size and quantity of the light exhibitions.
Besides featuring Taiwanese artists, the 2022 festival also includes work from Japan, France, Australia, and other foreign countries. Culture Minister Lee Yung-te says that while some people may confuse this exhibition with the Lantern Festival, the two events are very different. Lee says he welcomes everyone to come to Taichung to experience these cultural and artistic masterpieces.
The international festival is expected to attract many visitors, showing that while there may be dark times, people will still find their way to the light.
