Taiwanese police are in custody of a man who had fled to China after being charged in connection with a 2014 killing of a police officer. The officer was beaten to death while attempting to break up a nightclub brawl.
Lee Yu-jun is the final wanted suspect in the case who had gone missing. He had been sentenced to ten and a half years in prison for his role in the brawl. He was tracked to the city of Chengdu in southwest China. Police there arrested him for a separate crime. He has recently finished serving his prison sentence in connection with that crime.
Taiwanese police went to Chengdu on Tuesday to take custody of Lee and bring him back to Taiwan. After completing a period in quarantine, he will go before the Taiwan Taipei District Prosecutor’s Office.
