Taiwan reported six new local cases of COVID-19 on Monday. Authorities also reported 26 more imported cases among people arriving in Taiwan. There were no deaths reported.
The first of the six new local cases is the older sister of someone who tested positive after visiting the Golden Voice social club. Another two cases were detected among airport baggage cart workers.
The final three cases are all linked to a care worker who tested positive on Sunday. The care worker’s son was confirmed to have COVID-19 on Monday, along with one of his classmates from an after school program. The two children attend different elementary schools. Authorities have closed both schools as a precaution, along with the middle school attended by the elder brother of one of the new cases.
The final case is a close friend of the care worker. Authorities have closed the middle school attended by the case’s daughter.
Taiwan also recorded 26 imported cases of COVID-19 on Monday. They include 11 cases among travelers from the United States; two each from Indonesia and Myanmar; and one each from Nepal, Belize, Iceland, Ecuador, the United Kingdom, Italy, the Philippines, Denmark, South Africa, France, and Finland.
