Lawmakers from Taiwan and Japan will meet virtually on Tuesday as part of the two countries’ first inter-parliamentary security partnership forum.
The event comes amid increasing concern from Japan towards rising tensions in the Taiwan Strait.
Taiwan’s Foreign and National Defense Committee legislative committee is behind the event. Supporting the committee were lawmakers from Taiwan’s ruling party and former Japanese Senior Vice Minister of Defense Yasuhide Nakayama.
Defense committee members Wang Ting-yu, Chao Tien-lin, and newly-elected legislator Lin Ching-yi will meet with Nakayama and Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications Hiroaki Tabata.
