Taiwan’s fleet of F-16 V fighter jets has begun returning to service after being grounded for more than a week for safety inspections.
The decision to ground the fleet came after one F-16 V crashed during a routine training exercise on January 11, killing its pilot.
In an interview with RTI, an air force official said that safety inspections on the jets are complete. The officials said that four of the jets had already returned to service on Thursday morning, patrolling in Taiwan’s southwestern Air Defense Identification Zone for incursions by Chinese war planes.
