Premier Su calls for strict safety protocol at upcoming college entrance exam
Students prepare to start their entrance exam.

Premier Su Tseng-chang has called on government officials to ensure the safety of high school students as they take a three-day college entrance exam. On Thursday, Su said that the education ministry and Central Epidemic Command Center need to strictly adhere to pandemic protocol to prevent mass breakouts of COVID-19 at testing sites.

The university entrance exam will be held from January 21 to 23. Current restrictions state that parents will not be able to accompany their children once they arrive at test sites. Students must wear masks the whole time, except for during the lunch break, when they will be provided with desk barriers.

Taiwan has seen an increasing number of local COVID-19 cases over the past two weeks, and Su says that the exam’s coordinators must be vigilant. He also says that people who are eligible for a third dose of a COVID-19 vaccine should register for an appointment as soon as possible.

Su says that Taiwan cannot let its guard down against the pandemic if it ever hopes to return to normalcy.
