COVID-19 (01/21): Taiwan reports 23 local cases, 0 deaths
Taiwan reported 23 new domestic cases of COVID-19 and 45 new imported cases of COVID-19 on Friday.

Taiwan reported 23 new local cases of COVID-19 on Friday. The country also reported 45 more imported cases among people arriving in Taiwan. There were no additional deaths reported. 

Of the 23 new local cases announced on Friday, ten were men and 13 were women.

Taiwan also recorded 45 imported cases of COVID-19 on Friday. They include 17 travelers from the United States, four travelers from the Philippines, three travelers each from Vietnam and Israel, two travelers from Canada, and one traveler each from Poland, Australia, South Korea, Singapore, Sweden, Russia, the United Kingdom, and Ireland. The travel history of the remaining eight COVID-positive travelers is still under investigation. These 45 travelers arrived in Taiwan between January 5 and January 20.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Taiwan has reported a total of 18,109 cases of COVID-19. That includes 3,283 imported cases and 14,772 domestic cases. Taiwan has also reported a total of 851 deaths from COVID-19.
