Premier Su Tseng says that Taiwan is prepared to deal with an uptick in the number of local COVID-19 cases. Su was speaking Tuesday during an inspection of a quarantine facility in Taoyuan City.
Su says that officials are being vigilant, and that there is no need for panic. He says that the Cabinet held a meeting Tuesday to discuss expanding COVID prevention measures and take stock of new developments.
Su says that the current wave of infections in Taiwan is characterized by fast transmission and relatively mild symptoms.
Su says that the government has already made preparations for all the medication it will need. He says that oral medications for treating COVID that the government has purchased from abroad will also gradually begin to arrive in Taiwan.
Su also says that Taiwan is set to take delivery of an additional 1.5 million doses of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine on Tuesday afternoon.
